Deputy Head of Department at the Swedish Armed Forces

Main Responsibilities

As the deputy head of department, you are an active part of the department's management team and support the head in solving the department's tasks. Together, you are responsible for achieving our mission and working efficiently. The deputy reports directly to the head of department, and in some cases, the unit head. The role involves organizing, leading, and developing the department in matters concerning operations, personnel, security, budget, and working environment. You will be part of a close-knit team, where the department consists of both civilian and military employees. You will lead planning with tasks of varying nature, so flexibility is a prerequisite.

Your tasks will be solved during regular office hours. The position also requires that you be flexible and able to work evenings, weekends, or during exercises, which sometimes occur over an extended period.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

You who are applying should have:

  • Officer's degree and OF 2, or specialist officer's degree and SO 7.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
  • Driving license B
  • Swedish citizenship.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is interested in a position with a high degree of independence. The position requires good leadership in harmony with the Armed Forces' values. You have a very good ability to collaborate and engage while being skilled at creating conditions for good results. To succeed in the role, good judgment and accountability are also required, as well as a willingness to lead development and change work and a high level of security awareness.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability and how you complement the other managers in the department.

Meritorious

  • Previous managerial experience, including employer and personnel responsibilities.
  • Service in staff.
  • Experience in troop training.
  • Good knowledge of command and information systems or logistics in the Armed Forces.

Other:

  • The employment is a full-time permanent position that begins with a 6-month probationary period.
  • The position is placed in a security class. A security check with a background check will be conducted before employment.
  • Work location: Örebro
  • Start date: As soon as possible or by agreement.
  • Travel may occur in the work.
